His duties included supervising as many as 25 employees and painting tract housing projects for Pulte Homes, U. S. Homes, Richmond American Homes, and Elliot Homes. He also supervised the painting of commercial projects such as Carl’s Jr. Restaurants, shopping center storefronts, churches, and Bingo halls around Tucson. Helen started her career as a Final Touch Up Painter in October of 1987. Doing the finishing touches on houses such as painting or staining the front doors and French doors, touching up scuffmarks and handprints due to carpet and floor covering installation, painting dry wall repairs, and painting new doors, trim, baseboards, etc. Helen has always had some artistic ability. Doing Art and Craft projects for friends and family, she decided to make a career out of something she enjoyed doing. In May of 1999 she attended the Designer Wall Workshop at Barth’s Faux Effects Decorative Finishes Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is currently focusing on Decorative Design finishing (Faux Finishing). She has done work in model homes for Dominion Homes, the Wine Tasting Room at United Beverage Company and several projects for homeowners around Tucson. In February 2001 Helen returned to Las Vegas and attended the Designer Wall II work shop at Barth's Faux Effects. This class was a advanced faux finishing class, In which Helen learned several new texture finishes, troweled Venetian plaster finishes, along with embossed and raised stencil techniques. In November 2002 Paul attended a Spray faux finishing class, and Helen attended a Venetian Plaster class. Paul learned how to achieve beautiful faux finishes using spray equipment. In Helen's class she was taught by an old world master of lime paint and old world lime based Venetian plaster finishes. The products she used in class were made in the same fashion as the lime based paint and plaster used in the turn of the century, these products give and beautiful old world look . Paul and Helen both take pride and truly enjoy doing their work. They both feel any job worth doing is worth doing well. Whether they are doing a large faux finishing job or a small re-paint. Each job is done by one or both of them, and receives their complete and full attention. |
